What's up? #MondayMusings

Pune,2015
“Where were you? I wanted to tell you something!”  One of my school days friend said to me as soon as I logged in to my whatsapp account almost after a week.

“You could have called me or sent one sms. Why were you waiting for me to come online?” I simply asked. ( I often call people and send sms still..)

“ Thanks for reminding. I forgot that was an option.”

Similar conversation happened after around half an hour with another old friend.

Most of us have actually forgotten that initially phones were used to make a call. Talking to close friends without any fear of being judged always relieved us of stress.
If we are concerned, or if we need help, instead of just checking online status, we can simply send one sms or give a call. Life can be that simple.

We are technologically connected to more people these days, but are we really talking?

  1. Sadly I don't think we are. Case in point, my daughter had a completely online friendship through messaging and texting but they never spoke to each other at person when they seen each other at school. Am I the only one that thinks this is completely whacked??? Now, thankfully, she has met up with another boy that has done all his talking in person. I like this kid, if for no other reason than he thinks my girl is beautiful and cute and amazing and has the balls to tell her so, to her face. In result, there is no more " I am ugly, I'm a potato" out of her. Now she is happy and a "strong, independent woman" who is OK. Thank you Romeo! HA HA

  3. Well, technology does have it's drawbacks..ofcourse in many ways we are more connected but at times it can be the entire opposite of it

  4. Oh I wonder why I also prefer to talk to people online sometimes. Unless it's urgent I have to call or send an SMS. :)

  5. I think you may be right, Payal. I got on to Watsapp and was flooded with forwards and whatnots, I immediately disconnected! ;)

  6. It's funny how things have changed - most people I know these days would FAR rather send a text than pick up the phone and call someone!

  7. Thankfully I don't look for the status. If I can phone I do that. But yeah, I feel many times we are using technology as a mask and forget how simple it used to be.

  9. I so agree! I also prefer calls but many of friends still find this instant messaging more fun!

  11. It makes sense and a conversation can lift the burden. Such an aha feeling that makes one feel good. We are just a phone away:)

  12. are we really talking....very rightly pointed out......we have started dwelling in a comfort zone that keeps us in touch with the outer world to a certain extent but has its limitations which we plainly overlook.....
