Bemused

That day was different. As I mingled with the familiar faces in the crowd, our eyes met. He was standing in a corner, looking at me. I got busy talking to everyone around. Soon I turned back but he was not there.I was lost in his thoughts, to an extent that I saw him everywhere I went. While returning back, I thought I saw him standing there on the sidewalk, on a cold winter evening. I saw him walking with me on the road that never existed. Just like life, he was an illusion. A fragment of my imagination.

writer's block-an illusion

“When I don’t write, I dream. There is nothing like writer’s block.” said a friend after reading my post “Potpourri.” Blocks are negative.

So, is writer’s block simply an illusion?
Write Tribe gave us this opportunity to fight with this so-called writer's block.
How do I fight with this illusion?

Shut up my inner critic- Sometimes negativity tries to tighten its grip on me and I become my biggest critic. Self criticism is destructive. Nothing seems to work in the presence of negativity. I put all that negativity in a glass jar and put a lid on it.* I don’t know what to do with it so I watch it from a distance and allow it to be. Slowly the negativity fades away and its’ voice stops reaching me.

*A few days back I met someone who taught me about an imaginary glass jar in some other context. Now, it works in case of everything that stops me from doing what I want to do.

Relax - Instead of worrying about what to write, I take it easy, try to relax and become more attentive and listen to what others have to say. I read other blogs and try to write on prompts. I am a dreamer too and my dreams inspire me!

Photos- Life is an abstraction. I try to derive inspiration from the details of life. We need to explore. Sometimes I go through randomly clicked photographs and try to rediscover the hidden meanings in them and pen down my thoughts and feelings.

Play with colours-  There are times when I don’t feel like reading or writing. Everything seems dull. I take out my oil pastels, pick up 4-5 shades and start to colour the blank page. As my work progresses, my imagination get its wings.

Talking to myself- This is the exercise I had been doing since my childhood. I sit in silence and talk to myself! It's said that we have approximately 70,000 thoughts per day!
Keep writing!

The beautiful “SELF”

Auditorium was full of audience. The stage was set. Elegantly dressed in her costume with perfect make-up,long  braided hair, and with radiant smile on her face, Radha was ready for her first performance. All the eyes were on her. As the music began, her body moved in perfect rhythm as she danced gracefully on the beats.

A thundering applause in the end and a standing ovation from the audience brought tears in her eyes. Her journey has just begun. She was on her way to fulfill her dreams. She looked most beautiful that day.Her inner strength and beauty reflected on her face that was beaming with joy. She was a student from a blind school whose eyes spoke a lot.

Strong vibes,
bring along
subtle messages
and form
images in mind.
       ****
Beyond,
the strong walls
of reasoning,
I try to listen
to my heart.
       ****
In silence,
sometimes
the heart sees
what is invisible
to the eye.

The shoe story

Little shoe Vidya Sury Wednesday Prompt
The photo prompt

From my balcony,I saw the kids playing in the park, barefoot. I still wonder, what made them  leave their shoes behind, imbued in the pain of lonely existence on the bed of fallen leaves. Maybe the bondaged feel of decency in biting shoes strapped tightly with velcro. Who knows? Many thoughts, wordless, remained incognito in the memory.
While running, they kicked the shoes, unknowingly, and one shoe found its place under the bench. Late in the evening, while returning home, they spotted it,took it out and gathered around it, as if to get a glimpse of its loneliness and to know whom it belonged to. All this while there was freaking silence, while the mischievous minds were at work.
I saw some of them, shaking their legs and tapping their shoes, to allow the comfort of letting go of the tiny pieces of creepy stones that hurt. They tried to find its' pair. Just then little Taru came with her mom, stumbling around, holding a shoe in hand. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she saw her misplaced shoe.
