The shoe story

Little shoe Vidya Sury Wednesday Prompt
The photo prompt

From my balcony,I saw the kids playing in the park, barefoot. I still wonder, what made them  leave their shoes behind, imbued in the pain of lonely existence on the bed of fallen leaves. Maybe the bondaged feel of decency in biting shoes strapped tightly with velcro. Who knows? Many thoughts, wordless, remained incognito in the memory.
While running, they kicked the shoes, unknowingly, and one shoe found its place under the bench. Late in the evening, while returning home, they spotted it,took it out and gathered around it, as if to get a glimpse of its loneliness and to know whom it belonged to. All this while there was freaking silence, while the mischievous minds were at work.
I saw some of them, shaking their legs and tapping their shoes, to allow the comfort of letting go of the tiny pieces of creepy stones that hurt. They tried to find its' pair. Just then little Taru came with her mom, stumbling around, holding a shoe in hand. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she saw her misplaced shoe.

  1. Sweet story, and what a relief that the shoe found its owner and was reunited with its twin once again.
