"Forever might be short."

 I asked once, 

"How long is forever?" 

Time did answer.

"Forever might be short", 

as short as a pause 

between the breaths, 

as short as a life well lived, 

as short as the time taken 

for a change of heart, 

as short as a blink of an eye,

as short as it takes to hurt deep.

Forever, oft remains 

as a broken promise, 

as short as 

the second half of joy, 

with renewed vision, and clarity.
