India Was One - my views

This book took off like a dream in a mysterious way, a bit dramatically author starts to unfold the story of Jai and his wife Kaahi where Jai is in South India and Kaahi in North.

Appreciate all the efforts of the author who has put his heart and soul in this book. Moreover this book gives us an idea of how an Indian feels in U.S.

“You can take an Indian out of India, but you can never take India out of an Indian” ~An Indian.

Detailed description of states and culture, the customs and rituals make us understand a lot more about India and want us to visit the places. I specially liked the chapter on Rajasthan.

The train journey is very well expressed.

This book speaks to every Indian. At some point or the other, we as Indians can relate to the situations handled with care by the author of this book who prefers to be called An Indian.
"The soldiers have refused to fire at their fellow Indians."

Personally, I am not a very big fan of cricket, but the chapters are well penned.

“Nothing like test cricket. It teaches you to be patient.”

This book is full of happy and sad moments but then that is what life is all about! Simple language makes it an easy read. In between, there are dialogues in Hindi that give it more weight.

It’s a story of friendship and of love that goes along with well woven characters.

Author asks a few thought provoking questions towards the end. The book left me with a will to celebrate unity in diversity. Loved the artwork in the book.

The book ends with a beautiful poem.

Some books just happen. Many thanks to “An Indian”, author of “India was One” for sending me his book.

  3. If a book requires patience to read, it shows you're not enjoying it too much. I'm reading one at he moment that is so complicated, and contains so many crazy characters, that I hardly want to pick it up to finish.
