What matters most?

They say, “Success first then happiness”.
I wonder, what matters most? Money, power, fame?
or the ability to spread smiles and create an atmosphere full of love?
Sometimes, as success knocks at the door, grief strikes and regret creeps in taking shape of an unknown shadow that keeps lingering in mind, reflecting missed joys of life.
True success lies in achieving desired goals while walking on the path courageously without compromising morals and values, with love for work, while living lives fully.
Success does not guarantee happiness, satisfaction does! At the end, it’s just the peace of mind that matters.

  1. At my job, there was an executive. He worked hard but neglected his family. His son grew up and also achieved success at a young age, getting a job in the World Trade Center in Manhattan. You can guess the rest, as this son perished on 9/11/11 in a terrorist attack. This man, sadly, through tragedy, learned too late (he told me this in the last conversation we had) and regretted all the time he could have been with his family. Sad story - true story. 2. Agree with you, Payal. They say, success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

  4. You concluded it just right - peace of mind matters. It is one thing that is more precious to me than success or happiness. Happiness is dependent on so many factors that it is almost temporary these days.

  5. So true! It depends how you will become happy. Small things give us happiness, too.
