Goodbye #NaPoWriMo2022 #day8

In the folds of a paper,

were the unfulfilled promises,

that made me question

the authenticity of everything

around.

.

Trapped in the

heartbreaking situations,

at times,

there are no other ways,

than to bid goodbye.

Goodbye to toxicity,

to unrealistic expectations,

to hatred,

to sorrows..

.

Clearing the cache of faded words

that occupied a large space

in memory, I

welcomed a life

full of possibilities,

of joy, of peace, of love.

.

Goodbyes bring the lessons along.

Experiences carve the path,

and lead us to new beginnings.

Blasphemy #NaPoWriMo2022 #day6

Do you know how it feels,

when the waves kiss your feet,

or when the wind

plays with your hair?

Ignoring these feelings,

Isn't it blasphemy?

.

Dwelling in the

subconscious mind, .

are the thoughts divine.

If a hymn remains

unfinished,

isn't it blasphemy?

.

Words are sacred

worshipped through

pen's ink.

If the pen remains dry,

Isn't it blasphemy?

.

Sacred are the relations

that touch the heart's chord.

When they lack reverence,

Isn't it blasphemy?

.

Following the rat race,

Ignoring the inner voice,

When we say,

God lives within.

Isn't it blasphemy?

.

In the territory of

 man-made Gods.

 Sacred but scared,

 humanity suffers.

 What do we call it?

 Isn't it blasphemy?

Spiral #NaPoWriMo #Day5

Things go round and round in circles. Break the patterns. I sit here on my window sil. From the comfort of my home, I observe the different shapes that I see outside my window.

A row of Ashoka trees stand tall, conical in shape, an elongated triangle. I get a glimpse of an ancient tree, whose branches spread in all the directions. It looks like a green cloud. Some balconies could be seen from the spaces in between the trees. I bring my attention back to my home. The tiny white plastic vases with colourful plastic flowers reminds me of friendships. They stand near the bottle in which the moneyplant grows now. Buddha keeps watching. I see tokens and reminders of real relationships. My world lies here. True in its essence. Krishna smiles.

Spices #day4

1.

Missed is the aroma of

Turnips wrapped in spices,

kept in an earthen pot,

and simmered in the Sun.

.

It wasn't the spices

that added flavours,

it was all mother's love,

that poured from her heart.

.

Since childhood,

we saw the miraculous effects

of the pure spices.

.

The golden milk served hot,

took away the pain.

How I wish all the bruises heal

by applying turmeric,

and emotions inflicting

 ache in stomach, find solace

with a pinch of asafoetida in the navel.

-payalagarwal

2.

With salt and pepper look,

 long lost smile,

and love in your eyes,

you sit in front of me.

Moments trapped in

cinnamon memory

lingers in a tea cup.

-payalagarwal

Poison #NaPoWriMo2022 #Day3

Ignorance-

bliss or painful poison?

Beware. Something dies within.

.

It's written all over,

poisonous tones

killed many relationships.

.

Misunderstandings-

Like slow poison, kills slowly.

Check the rapid heartbeats.

 .

Your smile- a sweet poison.

Looking in my eyes,

you take my breath away.

.

Love thy name.

You hurt, you cure.

Partly poisonous, partly pure.

.

The elixir of your words,

flow in my veins.

My writings become immortal.

Blue Rose #NaPoWriMo2022 #Day2

There, a blue rose blossomed,

unique in its essence,

in a garden full of red roses,

in a world of its own.

.

It painted

a flowering kaleidoscopic image,

in blue, green, yellow,

Some message it brought

from a distant world of

centered existence.

.

Pride of the gardener,

knows no bounds,

as he nourishes and nurtures,

a blue rose,

with love and care.

.

Light it up blue today,

for a journey of challenges,

and victories.

Though the thorns

prick a little deep,

remember that love overflows.

Perfection #NaPoWriMo

Perfectionist met imperfection

at every bend.

Flowing freely,

the thoughts churned into words,

in absence of rhyme, and rhythm,

poet's block created

a work of art.

Out of order..

 Out of order #NaPoWriMo #Day1

Such is life..

Often in the wake of morn,

when it all seems out of order,

a Sunbird sings,

as the prayer bell rings.

A gentle kiss planted on forehead,

holds a message with a silent say,

"Love is forever here to stay."

-payalagarwal

"Forever might be short."

 I asked once,

"How long is forever?"

Time did answer.

"Forever might be short",

as short as a pause

between the breaths,

as short as a life well lived,

as short as the time taken

for a change of heart,

as short as a blink of an eye,

as short as it takes to hurt deep.

Forever, oft remains

as a broken promise,

as short as

the second half of joy,

with renewed vision, and clarity.

“To be a Flower, is profound"

Nourished and nurtured, with care, a bud bloomed into a flower, like an angel, that created a spell with its fragrant vibes.

The depth of its being, the origin of its birth, the truth of its existence, all made sense, creating a magnetic field, attracting the butterflies and the bees.

A flower holds the nectar within, like a guru, who's still, and blooms, and serves with responsibility, feed the hunger, and quench the thirst of seekers, while sharing their nectar of knowledge that lies deep, in the heart.

"To be a flower, is profound."

"Old Park"

Mr. Reddy, an aged man, thin and tall, had a small tea shop, near the senior citizen park, on a quiet street, in a small town. His smiling eyes could be seen from behind the spectacles. His fresh wrinkles on skin, and grey hair with a hint of dark brown in between spoke of his age.

His shop was not too far from his home where he lived with his wife, Siya, a lady with long tresses, and a sweet smile, who used to stitch clothes for the neighbours on request. She was known for the magic in her hands and perfection in her work even in her late sixties, ever since they got married, some forty years ago. Sometimes, she used to accompany him to the tea shop where he played old melodies on gramophone kept on a table in the extreme right corner, to hide the chipped plaster wall. The ceiling was low due to another floor that he built because of the rush in his shop.

Occasionally, he used to switch on the FM radio kept nearby.

His tea and bun-maska was famous throughout the town. With his friendly nature he was respected and loved by people of all ages. Everybody loved to talk to him. He had seen many laughter and heard many cries. He knew the stories of every individual who visited his shop, and was always found talking to the customers.

Everyone carried a story within. Some shared with ease, while others had a difficult time sharing their stories.

Some people called his tea miraculous.  Simply a sip of it was relaxing. Afterall, he served it lovingly with a smile and plenty of understanding. He had a motto, "Have your cup of tea. It doesn't matter how your mood is when you enter the shop, but when you leave, leave with a smile."

He had always believed in the saying that you should always leave people better than when you met them.

"Ajit, give this tea to sir."

Ajit, a young boy, who helped him at his shop, used to place a small glass of tea alongwith cookies and Bun-Maska, in front of the customer.

"Special tea for you!" He used to speak in his enthusiastic tone while making tea for others.

Seasons kept changing, from autumn, to winter, to summer, to rains, and the cycle used to start all over again. Most of the people had same stories of losses and gains, of regrets and pains. He patiently listened to them.

It was a winter morning. That day he opened his shop a little late. His wife had gone to another town to meet a relative, who was unwell. Ajit had gone out for some work.

While he was pulling up the shutter, he looked on his side, and saw a young boy, who looked in his twenties, dressed in a red jacket, and black jeans, with a little long hair, taking photographs, and talking to the people. His gestures made it clear that he was visiting that area for the first time, and was looking for someone, or something.

He heaved a sigh. Drowning in some deep thought he went inside. After dusting a little, he lit the lamp and prayed for a while.

Just then a few customers came in, and occupied the seats on the wooden benches, and got involved in a conversation, as he started making tea for them.

A few more customers arrived in, a man sat with a newspaper on a chair placed near a small staircase. A few moved up the stairs and took their seats. In a few minutes, the shop was full of customers. The place became lively with conversations.

The tea leaves were swirling in the boiling water, along with peppercorns, clove, ginger and cinnamon, just like some thoughts that creeped up this morning. He added milk to it, boiled it, and served.

“What happened?” “You are not talking today, and why were you late?” The customers kept on asking but he kept quiet, smiled, and went back to making tea. He didn’t speak a word. Maybe, it happens with everyone. Well, not all days are the same.

Just then he heard a voice. “Uncle, one masala tea, with a hint of lemon grass please.” Taking corner seat of a bench, that boy started checking his DSLR.

He looked back, and saw the same boy, who got him thinking. With questioning eyes, he approached the young boy. "I never saw you before. What's your name? I saw you taking pictures."

"Everyone is a photographer these days."

Saying this he smiled, and said,

"I am Rishi."

"Uncle, I have heard about the special tea that you make. My grandfather, Mr. Rama Rao, used to come here often after his walk with his friends.”

A few days ago, he passed away. In the park, he had made many friends. One day, he didn’t go to the park, because of his sickness, his friends visited us in the evening at our home to know his whereabouts.”

“There was some strange feeling that added uniqueness to that evening.  I heard all of them talking and laughing. They shared their sadness too.” Saying this, Rishi's eyes got wet, as tears welled up, and blocked his voice.

“There is sorrow that lingers in old parks.” The old man said looking around with a wistful look.

The boy looked around, and fixed his gaze on Mr. Reddy’s face.” I think you are right. Old parks carry a garden within. A garden that bears the fruits of wisdom, that’s hidden underneath the weeds, which they often find it difficult to let go. Stubborn, they become. My grandfather was like that.”

“The experiences they carry, have the potential to plant a new garden, and make them all new just like this newly constructed senior citizen park where the old park existed. Thank you, uncle.” Saying this, sipping the last drop of tea, he made the payment, and smiled. Sometimes, you don’t need words to express yourself.

"Visit again." Mr. Reddy gently put his hand on Rishi's shoulder, and smiled.

“Dharma and Karma”

In dharma yuddha when

consciousness is shaken and stirred,

And mind tries to take over,

with divine intervention, Krishna, the soul,

drives the chariot, dharma wins over.

.

In a world where words mattered

All the promises were taken

From the ones who were strong

Who  knew they have promises to keep.

.

They got killed when they could have been saved

Look at Karna , he didn’t kill Bhima.

He had a promise to keep.

He proved he had the power

to move the universe by moving

Arjuna’s chariot driven by Krishna.

When he was patiently bearing the pain

Of sting of poisonous crab

Parshuram cursed him,

saying he was not a brahmin.

He forgot what he learnt , for curses are powerful

And promises made were stronger than life.

I’ve heard, beauty of his face

Could stop the time.

His inner strength made him stronger

And reflected on his face. He looked graceful.

Karna was a man, who knew his Karma.

Clearance of debts was his Dharma.

Draupadi wished for him alone.

He had the qualities of  those five Pandavas together.

But Gods will, gods only know,

Draupadi could never marry Karna.

How would have Mahabharata

been fought otherwise?

No matter whatever we think and say,

What is destined to happen,

It just happens the way it is willed.

You pray, you please Gods, they might even ask your will

But later they’ll convince you, to do what they will.

All we should do, is trust the God’s plan

Follow our Dharma, and do our karma.

"Helpless angels"

When humans sold their conscience,

fear ruled, the angels felt helpless,

world went topsy turvy,

the angels kept a watch

helplessly.

Their wings entrapped,

in the dramatical phases

of illusionary life,

the earth shaken and stirred,

angels were assigned the tasks,

to save humanity.

.

Fables often portray angels

as the blessings from above,

who come down on earth,

spreading their wings.

They look like

illusionary beings.

A fragment of imagination,

of the great minds.

.

Amongst the humans,

known, unknown,

Instilling hope,

in hopelessness,

to restore faith

in the goodness,

when self belief shatters,

love seems lost,

chaos overpowers

 the calm waters,

 when humanity dearth,

we find these god sent messengers,

roaming on the realms of earth.

"String of life"

Colours of rainbow

dissolved in the moments,

strewn in the string of life,

to form intricate patterns,

with each breath,

spiralling through

different phases,

while painting life.

Day 7

#7daysalspoetryandprosechallenge

Till I breathe my last

 The days awaken

to the sunlit wonders,

sunkissed dreams

twinkle in the eyes,

filling our cups to the brim.

Love overflows.

.

Singing the songs of love,

written with fragrant breath,

the nights surrender

to the raindrops,

hearts entwine,

embracing the

magnificence

of the moments.

.

When the last song of love,

will be inked with morning dew,

With the last breath,

we'll sing it together,

with heartfelt gratitude.

Day 6 #7daysalspoetryandprosechallenge

"All characters are fictitious."

In a novel, or a movie,

"All characters are fictitious."

flowing out of the writer's pen,

playing the roles

assigned to them,

Some are felt close to life,

Some seems distant.

.

In a spur of a moment,

they feel real

as we sit with them,

and know them closely.

.

The characters that

influence us

tells a lot about

the ongoing trend.

.

We sit, watch, observe

all the characters,

some become our favourite,

some we find difficult to connect with.

We forget they were

just playing their roles.

Their vulnerabilities are hidden

behind the curtains.

.

In this drama of life,

we are assigned the roles,

that we play,

comfortably

In our skin

till the curtain drops.

Time keeps testing

our strength.

Experiences change us.

The lessons delivered

are real.

.

Be original

Be real

Be who you are..

Pure and simple.

-payalagarwal

Day 5 #7daysalspoetryandprosechallenge

A wish to live..

When reverberating energies from afar,

throbs in the valley of hearts,

and the river beds are calm and quiet,

floating symbols and omens,

emerge from the lakes of pure consciousness,

the fire is recognised,

air fills the gaps,

as the galaxies rise in the space,

within.

When life echoes in wilderness,

and soft tendrils awaken on the vines,

A wish to live a life, in gratitude,

gracefully emerges with strong will,

trusting instincts.

"The morning will come again"

When eclipsed and

obscured with

unreasonable doubts,

Dark nights seems darker,

Remember...

It all gets better.

"The morning will come again"

with a sunshine glow,

orbiting in the periphery

of hope and faith,

uplifting the spirit,

wrapped with the warmth,

of nature's soothing touch.

It might come

as a drizzling calm,

with a gentle breeze,

embalming the earth,

and enriching the soil,

with love.

Remember....

It all gets better!

Day 3 #7daysalspoetryandprosechallenge

"Caravan of memories."

It all starts with just a thought.

A single word, or a known phrase,

A song, a scene, a journey, even weather,

A feeling of deja vu,

It starts right there,

with anything and everything,

that puts us in a state of trance.

.

One after another,

memories unfold,

from the deepest core,

like a caravan.

.

Memories

sweet and sour,

Some bittersweet too,

fondly remembered,

or wisely forgotten,

it all built up the life lived.

Moments of past.

chiseled and polished

with tools of time.

.

A life till date,

lived, experienced, cherished.

It all makes sense when

we look back to see everything

happening in perfect divine order.

 Caravan of memories rush in,

 a bag of mixed emotions

is emptied to be savoured.

Trust the flow.

Day 2

Someday, Somewhere

Someday, somewhere,

we'll meet again,

at crossroads,

drenched and drained

with heartfelt emotions,

singing the rain song.

We'll look into each other's eyes,

and read the scripts

imprinted on our hearts,

eons ago,

finding home in each other's soul.

The dreams unrealized

would burst as tears.

Rainbows would shine in teardrops.

Will you remember me till then?

Until that day,

I have a little more to pray for.

Someday somewhere,

No one would fight

for their part of land.

Peace would reign.

It has to start,

someday,

somewhere,

for the earth to become

a better, safer place,

where smiles

would flourish

on the weary faces,

where I am just a passer by.

How about..right here, in the now?
