Abstraction #MondayMusings

Goa,2015

Abstraction opens up the possibilities for interpretation. Everytime, a new meaning emerges, some hidden treasures are found, some secrets are revealed, some moments are realized.

A few days back, my husband and I stopped at a restaurant on our way to Mussoorie. We saw a lady sitting there with all her painting tools amidst the beauty of the hills. I couldn’t stop myself and wanted to have a word with her. I am glad, I did!

We talked about painting, and how it helps us to understand ourselves and the situations.

She was doing figurative art, and also showed me her abstract work. I told her that I do abstract painting, and I wish I could do figurative art too.

She was a painting teacher and had left the job. As an owner of that restaurant, she invited me to sit with her and paint next time whenever I go to Doon. She says, she’ll get a company. Also, she’ll teach me to draw portraits in a way that I’ll be able to paint just about anything.

Sounds interesting! We exchanged our numbers. Just five minutes of conversation, at a place I never expected, and we are no more strangers.

  1. How lovely! I'm always amazed at how we are unconsciously drawn to people with similar interests. I'm busy painting these days - something I've never done before - just the whole notion of slapping on paint and seeing something emerge is exciting. And no, I'm not comparing myself to you or the lady! :)
