2012 image,Udaipur
I met a woman
Who painted the images
With her shadow
In the light.
I met a woman
Who was a human too
And made mistakes
Like you and me.
I met a woman
Who used to forgive
quickly
But was seldom forgiven
When she went wrong.
I met a woman
Who was least bothered
Of what others thought of
her.
For she knew herself.
I met a woman
Who opened the doors..
And accepted her world
With a smile.
I met a woman
Who was grateful to God
And kept her loved ones
Before her in her prayers.
I met a woman
Who never forgot
The goodness of others
When they took her for
granted.
I met a woman
Who knew that some losses
Were beyond space and time
But had faith in Life.
I met a woman
With pain in her eyes
For she couldn’t
Make everyone
happy.

This could be me, my mom, my sisters... very well done. X
ReplyDeleteEven if you wrote nothing after the very first verse ,the words just throbbed. Only ones who have pain in her eyes could write such intense poem.

ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant Payal, it could be any of us :)
ReplyDeletePayal, this is a lovely poem. The opening stanza is a stunner. I like this one, too:
ReplyDelete" I met a woman
Who knew that some losses
Were beyond space and time
But had faith in Life."
I see her looking ahead for the goodness in life, regardless of the bad stuff.
Thank you. xoA
